PWC (jet ski) proficiency - rya
DURATION: 1 day
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: None, this course is suitable for complete beginners.
PLACES PER COURSE: 1-6
ABILITY AT COURSE END: You will learn to be a self-sufficient PWC rider in the right conditions: aware of your own limitations and those of craft and aim to gain an RYA qualification and PWCP certificate.
MINIMUM AGE: 12 (suggested 14)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Typically, students will bring their own craft to these courses (which we encourage). However, ski hire is available for the course, at a price of £105.
This one-day course teaches the basics of riding a PWC confidently and safely, the rules of the road, how to avoid a collision, slow speed manoeuvres, high-speed control and what to do in case of an emergency. By the end of the day participants aim to leave with an RYA qualification and certificate that many locations insist on before launching.
The course also covers Launching, handling and recovery skills, passage planning and decision making, high speed handling and slalom courses. There is a certain amount of theory which we intersperse between practical sessions, covering as much of it as possible on the water.
Please note that each RYA Personal Watercraft course is normally restricted to 2 students per course. We can accommodate courses with up to 6 students, but please contact us to arrange this.
