REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: Experienced power boater, Level 2 power boating certificate, Power boat pre-skills assessment completed, valid first aid certificate and VHF operators certificate.
ABILITY AT COURSE END: Power Boat Instructor certificate, which is valid for five years from the date of issue, provided that a valid first aid certificate is maintained

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course aims to develop participants to become a competent powerboat instructor, to be able to teach power boating up to Level 2, under the supervision of the Principal or Chief Instructor of a recognised centre.
The course includes principles of practical instruction, lesson planning, teaching styles, use of questioning, preparation of visual aids, assessment of students’ learning, explanation and presentation of theory subjects, the structure of the RYA Powerboat levels scheme, planning progressive teaching sessions, preparation of boats and equipment and teaching methods to Level 2.
